What should I bring to my lesson?

For a groundwork, stable management or horse care lesson, all you need to bring are some good closed toe boots, long pants and comfortable, non-loose clothing (i.e. no bulky wool sweaters that could get snagged on things) that you don't mind getting dirty.

The best thing to wear for riding is a pair of breeches or johdpurs (jeans and pands with a similarly rough inseam

wreck saddles). Check out our Links page for nearby tack stores where you can buy a pair.

Helmets are mandatory in all lessons. Again, check out our Links page for tack stores - the employees will help you find the right helmet.

If finances are tight, or you are not yet sure whether you are committed enough to make the financial investment, we totally understand. Give us a ring and we can work something out.

What is your cancellation policy?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds for missed or cancelled lessons (our horses need to eat, and we need to know where that money is coming from!). However, if you give at least 24hrs notice that you will not be able to make a lessons, we can reschedule it for a different time. On rare occasions, we may have to cancel a lesson last minute due to veterinary or medical emergencies, sudden bad weather (i.e. a hail storm :), etc. If this happens, we will refund you or reschedule your lesson (whichever you prefer).

I have a young child who is interested in horses. What is the minimum age for lessons?

Full length lessons are available to people approximately 8yrs old and up. Of course, there are many children under the age of 8 who have the patience and attention span for a full length lessons, just as there are many people over that age who would do bettern with a shorter lesson. The best thing to do is email or give us a ring, and we can chat about your/your child's needs.

We do offer "mini-lessons" (30mins long) and pony rides to children under the age of 8. Due to safety reasons, these lessons consist mostly (if not entirely) of riding, as opposed to ground work/work in hand.
